About This Event

Walk through the footsteps of time, alongside members of an ancient culture. As you cross the Arafura Sea, step into the timeless wonder and magnificence of one of Australia’s secret treasures, Arnhem Land. Explore the Arnhem Land coastline on this new 2019 Expedition.

Join us as we explore the vast and unspoiled wilderness that is Arnhem Land, rich in Aboriginal culture, offering some of the most unique indigenous cultural experiences, rock art & some of the best fishing in the world. Marvel at the towering rocky escarpments, breathtaking gorges, stunning rivers full of fish of many kinds & majestic waterfalls.

Together we will explore tropical beaches of white sand where the turquoise water reflects the myriad of stars at night. Watch and wonder as encounter all types of wildlife indicative to this ancient land.

A true wilderness area in the northern edge of Australia, Kimberley Expeditions will escort you from Darwin in our luxurious 38M catamaran Reef Prince to explore:

Victoria Settlement on the Coburg Peninsula, where you can see the ruins of a lost city in the top end. Here you are surrounded by the ghosts of past European settlers amidst a wetland sanctuary which supply all manner of predators abundant marine and wildlife. Then sail in our tender Regent up the mangrove fringed Caiman Creek. Multitudes of fish make these waters their home.

Wessell Islands– famous for the Hole in the Wall also known as the Gulgari Rip which is a tiny inlet where you will see ancient rock art depicting sailing vessels and unusual men. This passage also provides refuge for numerous threatened local species. The beaches provides nesting areas for numerous species of marine turtles, The crystal clear waters allows the keen eyed traveller a marvellous view of aquatic life

Galwinku Elcho Island where you will be given the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the vast Arafura swamplands. This vast area of freshwater swamplands are of massive international significance. The tidally influenced swamps are covered in paperbark and woodlands which are a haven for a large number of birds and threatened species.

The people of the Tiwi Islands known as the island of smiles, welcomes each of you as a part of their community. Spend time learning aspects of Aboriginal culture from the perspective of the first Australians. Many pieces of Tiwi art hang in some of the most prestigious galleries in the world. You can have the opportunity to meet the artists and if you desire purchase your own piece of art. You will learn about traditional culture & bathe in fresh water pools.

The pristine, beautiful & rugged coastlines of the WIlligi island will leave you breathless, particularly as you take time to breathe in the magnificent sunsets. View the lush rain forest, towering escarpments & explore the rivers that are teaming with fish.
